One of my favorite books as a kid was this one. It’s Dr. sues. It rhymes, has some funny made up words, and not only that, but it has some BIG words, which always adds to the excitement.
Recently my “boss” brought out this book for Oliver to read. It was hers as a kid. I was excited but I figured Oliver would never get into it, because those are just the chances. Most things I thought were really cool as a child, he looks at and is like,”so?”
But Marvin K. Mooney but has the same effect on everyone, because he loves this book. In fact, it’s made it into our bathroom book rotation. This is a good thing. It’s probably more than you care to know, but when you’ve got a potty trained two year old, you’ve got to sit with them when they’re doing their thing, even if it stinks. And he prefers to be read to while we sit. For the longest time, we had two books in there: a monster truck book, and Dora’s Easter Egg Hunt. I know, the two don’t exactly go together. What can I say? He is into both.
I kept forgetting to change out the books so every time me got in there and got all settled, I realized we would have to read Dora again. I hate Dora. Eventually it got to the point where I had to hide Dora behind the shower curtain and deal with the repercussions.
I’m proud to say that Marvin K. has replaced any need for Dora. He even reads most of the pages with me. And it’s so cute…the last page says,”The time had come, so Marvin went.” The first time I let him finish on his own he paused, his voice got a little higher, and he said,”And….he goed.” He says went now but it’s oh so cute.nim okay with Marvin being in the bathroom vacation for awhile. If you don’t know this book, get it.
